For mothers and families entering the labyrinth of pregnancy and parenthood, expanding your community of support to include experienced and thoughtful prenatal classes and doula services can prove to be a profound comfort during pregnancy, labour and well into the postpartum.
Birth Doula Services:
As your birth doula, we develop a partnership that allows us to become familiar with one another before labour. Our prenatal meetings are opportunities for you to explore your preferences and concerns about labour and parenting. Your familiarity with how your body will naturally respond in labour is deepened as we explore aspects of labour support and pain coping that work best for you.
Expanding your family is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience for both mom and her partner. As such, we also acknowledge that childbirth is a rite of passage for you as a couple as well as individuals and allow you opportunity to validate your personal growth as individual parents coming together to welcome your new baby!
During labour, our team mentality really has opportunity to shine as mom’s birth companion becomes involved in labour support to the extent that he/she is comfortable, and I reinforce what is working for you by acting as an advocate for your labour preferences, a go-to girl for food and drinks and an experienced labour support person to turn to when you need reassurance or new ideas! After the arrival of your sweet new baby, I am available for feeding and baby care support and will continue to support you as you adjust to a growing family.
Our postpartum visit is an opportunity for you to process your birth experience and talk about resources available to you in your community. I may also help with light cleaning, play with your other children or cook some dinners for your freezer to allow you to be with your new family as much as possible in those first few weeks.

Postpartum Doula Servcies:
A parent often goes through many highs and lows in the weeks following birth as they
celebrate a new child and adjust to a growing family. As a postpartum doula, I help to create a nurturing environment for your transition to parenthood. My intention is not to take over as the baby’s primary care provider, but rather to assist you in your new role as parent(s) so that you can more easily bond with your baby and get to know this new, parent ‘you.’
Together, we’ll develop a postpartum plan outlining the support available to you and strategies to cope with the more difficult moments in a new parent’s life. For a more detailed description of postpartum care and fees, please see the postpartum contract.
